Best experience
I can't praise birchwood motors enough, I had the pleasure of dealing with a gentleman called Royden who went above and beyond to help me buy a vehicle. Royden arranged for the car to come to me for a test drive, as I had no way of getting there, once I agreed to have the vehicle Royden talked me through step by step. Finance was agreed and he had the vehicle delivered to me. I can't praise him enough. Need a car please visit Birchwood motors Essex.

I purchased a Mercedes Vito 2017 plate last summer from these guys. I deliberately waited a number of months post-purchase before writing this, to see how things settled after what was, unfortunately, a very shaky start.

From the outset this van was problematic. The clutch never felt right, but when I raised it with the sales rep, I was told “they usually feel like that” – something I had no way of knowing, as this was my first van. On the drive home it broke down twice: once due to the mechanic overfilling the engine with oil, and then again because of a failed ABS sensor. This resulted in unexpected hotel costs and a very long drive back to Scotland. To their credit, Birchwood did cover the ABS repair.

However, further issues soon followed. What started as a judder (initially thought to be wheel balance) turned out to be a dual mass flywheel fault, leaving me with a £1,500 repair bill. This is one of the most expensive “wear and tear” items not covered by the warranty, and it failed within just 1,500 miles into ownership.

The test drive process also leaves a lot to be desired. You’re restricted to a local private track, with no option to drive on public roads or get the van up to speed. That significantly limits your ability to spot issues before purchase.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend buying from here based on my experience. I was 3 months into the ownership and already significantly out of pocket – with little recourse despite these being major faults that should not occur so soon after purchase.

Somewhat underwhelmed
I love the car I bought, it is all I wanted. However, not having a service history or owner manual is a bit disappointing. Also, the car has a fault that requires a visit to Peugeot to fix. It is almost a week since I bought the car. Despite promises, no manual as yet or a date for a visit to Peugeot. Still awaiting finance to be sorted as well.

Great to do business with.
Called up about a Peugeot Boxer and got a good in depth description of the history from a gentleman called Royden. He was honest in his talk highlighting the few negatives and with those in mind, the van was still an excellent deal. I saw the van that day and felt confident it was a good buy. Had it a week and been lovely. Lee handed over the van to me and arranged my vehicle tax. Really nice to do business with nice honest people, that was my experience. I would recommend them for sure.

Excellent service and top-quality cars
I saw the BMW online and it looked in great condition. I spoke to Jamie on a Tuesday morning, and he was very polite and helpful on the phone, providing me with all the necessary information to check the car on my end.

I paid a deposit and then test drove the car around a private road behind the dealership. Every car on site was immaculate, which actually had me second-guessing my choice because they were all in such mint condition and very reasonably priced.

The whole process of purchasing my BMW was smooth and straightforward. I would definitely recommend Birchwood Motors to anyone looking to buy a great-looking car, whether it’s a premium brand or not. It’s definitely the place to go!

I bought my new to me van from here. The service has been excellent, from booking a viewing, the test drive and processing the purchase.

The van was in excellent condition and was put through a new mot before purchase .

Test driving the experience was second to none with training area they have available with all types of road conditions and junctions. You were just left to get on with it, no big sale push.

Then all the admin was taken care of for you including tax taking all the stress out of that! Because they are an AA approved company I was even able to arrange short term insurance which had the best deal out there by far.

Even better than that because we lived nearly 3 hours everything was ready to go for a purchase and drive away same day

Positive experience!
I recently had an awful experience buying a car with a different dealer where there was constant issues with the car, it was falsely advertised and it made me completely lack confidence in buying a car. When I spoke to Royden initially via WhatsApp he was so reassuring and patient and answered all my questions sending any proof and evidence of the car’s service history etc. I automatically felt really reassured by the way he was handling it, I then arranged to go and view the car and again was met with further reassurance from Royden he was so professional and applied no pressure what so ever. When I then test drove the car I was given the privacy and time to drive the car round and get to know it and take a look at it on my own for as long as I wanted with again no pressure. I then came back for the car and have drove it away there have been no issues and I’m really happy with the service I recieved from Royden! Thank you :)

Great Customer Service
I had an amazing experience with initially Luke and then Jamie when I picked the car up .
Luke was very friendly without putting any undue pressure on me and carefully explained the whole buying process to me .
When I picked up the car up Jamie was equally helpful with taxing and insuring the car and providing all the relevant paperwork .
I would use Birchwood again if I have to buy another car in the future and fully recommend them to other buyers !!

Mercedes sprinter
I bought a sprinter van from Birchwood . When I initially contacted them the salesman Luke was lovely . As I live in Birmingham I asked him to be totally honest and send me as many pictures as he could as it was so far away. Fortunately for me the MOT expired during our negotiations and so a few jobs had to be done . I arranged with Luke to go down on the train in the Monday. I called on the way to be told they knew nothing about me coming down and Luke was off . It took me 3 hours and when I arrived the van wasn’t available to view. Before travelling I was told it would have a full MOT and all the iobs that needed to be done would be fixed . It would be cleaned , the seat sewn and ready for inspection. Jamie was the sales person there when I arrived and couldn’t be any nicer . He told me the back brake discs needed doing even though Luke said he had them inspected by two other mechanics to say they were ok . I was happy that was being done . I arrived around 1.30 and Jamie said the van would be available to view before it got dark at 3 pm . I sat there in the office waiting . It never arrived until 4.45 pm at which point it was dark . I went for a very quick drive and tried to inspect it under the light . The back was absolutely filthy inside included the cab . It smelt of oil , the seat hadn’t been repaired as promised and it hadn't even ben cleaned . Jamie just kept blaming Luke . Mechanically it seemed fine so I decided to go ahead once it had been cleaned. They took it round the back and some foreign workers jet washed it . I wasn’t very happy the state it was .It was gone 7 when I left and the weather was awful . Jamie never explained anything about the workings of the van and once he had my money , his attitude changed . The next day I inspected the van in day light to find out all the paint work was yellow , the roof was plastered in gunge and muck, wires had been cut in the back so none of the manufactured lights worked and there were 6 holes in the roof . I am cake maker and wedding planner and knew the van wasn’t quite right but had I been given the chance to inspect it properly and not lied to by Luke I would not have bought it. Luke said he had a dent man sort the little dents out but hey had not been done . They are still there . To get the body work to anything acceptable I have had to pay £350 to have it mopped as it was so yellow which I never seen in the dark and the old sign writing professionally removed . It cost me £25 just to have the roof cleaned as it was caked on and looked like it had never been cleaned . I had been quoted £350 to have it boarded out but as it was so bad and full of oil it cost me £600 to get it clean and tidy ready to transport cakes .
As I left in a hurry in the end I unfortunately left my invoice and green slip . I rang the next morning to be spoken to rudely by Jamie . Wow what a charmer he was the day before . Asked about my paper work and mentioned about the holes in the roof , told him how dirty it was and that I was so upset I hadn’t been told about it . He became very rude and aggressive and put the phone down on me . I was told I would receive my paper work in the post but in the interim it would be emailed to me . I received the email but still no paperwork .I called Luke two days later to ask if my paper work had been sent to receive the same bad attitude as Jamie . Now they have my money customer service doesnt exist . What a bunch of cowboys .They are unprofessional and very rude . I contacted Luke on the 28th December to be told he wasn’t in work . I have had no paperwork from the DVLA or know whether it has been transferred into my name . I feel very let down by them and being on a very tight budget I have had to spend another £ 1000 to get it looking anything decent. Had I known how bad the body work and inside was I would never have gone to there . I may as well have paid a little more to start with and not had all the stress and hassle . Luke knew how important it was for me to have clean van yet lied just to get a sale . Very disappointed.
Fast forward to the new year 20 days after purchase I have had to call and ask for the my paper work to find out the V5 hadn’t even been sent off . Dean another salesman sorted it for me and has arranged for me to finally receive my invoice . I wanted to put a private plate on my van and was told by insurance if it was done within 14 days there would be no cost to transfer . Now as they have left it it’s going to cost me another £25 , along with the cost of fixing the roof that holes in , extra boarding as the floor was so bad , and mopping to bring the paint work back to anything acceptable I have spent extra £1200. I have contacted Luke 3 times since Christmas asking about the V5 and he hasn’t answered , hence why I called today . These are cowboys and I would say once they have your money they aren’t bothered . Both Jamie and Luke went for being really helpful to once they had my money , rude and arrogant with no customer care skills whatsoever

Great experience & Service
Trustworthy, reliable and honest. I was blown away by the amount of customers that have returned back to Jamie and Birchwood cars when I waiting to be served they had people there that are buying their 5th or 6th car from them, it gave me lots of reassurance about the car I was buying. Buying a car is a big expense and the team were brilliant at dealing with the questions, nothing was to much trouble, they were really easy to deal with and I would 100% be coming back to birchwood for another car in the future, it was worth the 90 minute drive to get a service as honest and as reliable as that which is exactly what you want when buying a car. So if you’re looking for a car , I can confidently say that these guys are legit and trustworthy. The car I bought is in great condition, it’s exactly what the guys said it was, they MOT’d it for me and give me fa fair price on my car! Great work Jamie and the guys birchwood, thank you!

Great customer service
We’ve used birchwood motor centre for the last few years, purely because Jamie will bend over backwards to help you out and get what you need. We’ve had 4 cars through Jamie and if there was any problems with the vehicle it would be sorted pretty much straight away. I would definitely recommend birchwood for sales-finance and after sales. I don’t trust many car salespeople but Jamie without a shadow of a doubt is true to his word and will do anything he can to get you the best deal he can. Paul will look after you as a returning customer and give you a great p/x on your vehicle. Give them a go as I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
